Trick-moves and unusual josekis contest results

We got a lot of letters, but most of our readers suggested quite popular plans. I even played them myself before!
We decided to give the first place to Goran Siska, 4-dan for the variation, explained at the attachment. It was difficult to punish it and the plan was new! Goran is getting a 6-months access to http://fuseki.info/ . Congratulations!

Interview with Seo Bongsu, 9-dan

Seo, 9-dan made a big sensation by reaching the semifinal of the Samsung cup. He beat 3 Chinese junior players straight! We asked him for an interview immediately after his game against Wang Yao
( http://www.go4go.net/v2/modules/collection/sgfview.php?id=12962 )

- Congratulations! What can you tell us about your game?
- It was a difficult game from the early beginning. I killed his group in the early middlegame and thought, that the game is finished. Later I made some mistakes and almost lost my victory. I was lucky, finally.
- How did you prepare for your game?
- As usual, I replayed some games of my opponent.
- Nowadays we are often comparing Chinese and Korean junior players. You beat Chinese juniors a lot in Samsung cup. Can you tell us your secret?
- My mind was free. I was not afraid of losing, because of my age.
- They use 2 hours of basic thinking time in Samsung cup. What do you like more, 3-hours or 2-hours games?
- I am getting tired quickly, because of my age, so the shorter thinking time is better for me
- The pairing will take place after few minutes. Which player would you like to meet in the semifinal?
- It's fun to play against foreigners, because I am meeting Korean players daily. Everyone wants to meet me, because I am the weakest member of the semifinal. You will better ask their opinions :)
- In your last interview (2005) you said us, that your main goal is winning the Samsung cup. Is it true?
- Did I say so? I told, that I would try to win at least one tournament, before retirement. It would be hard to get another chance :)

Short interview with Liu Xing, 7-dan

Liu Xing, 7-dan won the Chinese Agon cup (blitz tournament). He will play with Cho U, 9-dan in CH-JP Agon winners event.
Here is the tournament table:
http://www.go4go.net/v2/modules/tournament/scorechart.php?key=44-8-s16f

We ask him few questions about the best blitz players of Asian countries.

- Who is playing blitz best of all in China?
- Gu Li, 9-dan. Other top players are about the same in strength.
- How about Korean players?
- Lee Changho played blitz games better than others in the past, but now I will put Lee Sedol, 9-dan on the first place and Choi Chelhan, 9-dan on the second one
- What do you think about your chances against Cho U, 9-dan
- He is stronger than me, of course, but he is not unbeatable. I saw some of his weak places during the Honinbo titlematch against Takao, 9-dan

World Go news

Korea-China-Japan-Taiwan junior competition will take place on November 13,14 and 15 in Beijing.
Each team has 8 members; all of them will play 3 games with the members of other teams.
Chinese team will be really strong this time. Kong Jie and Xie He are both playing!
The leaders of the Korean team are Song Taekon, Ko Keuntae and Kang Dongyun.
Japanese and Taiwanese teams are much weaker and I don't think that they will be able to fight for the first place.

First Korean Online Baduk School was opened on November, 11. The main teachers of this club are Yoo Changhyuk, 9-dan, Choi Kyubyeong, 9-dan, and Kim Mansoo, 6-dan.
I am pretty sure, that they will not make an English service, but if you can read Korean, you may join the school at http://www.edubaduk.com/

It's a pity, that the strongest Korean girl Cho Hyeyeon, 7-dan, did not take part in the competition. Somebody noticed, that the main reason of her decision is the playing schedule.
It's forbidden to play Go on Saturdays by her religion.
